My Deck, A Year Later: How they are holding up and how you choose to make your own

After a year of making and using my own deck, I’ve learned a lot along the way. I’ve learned a lot about the process of creating them, and the process of developing intuition. You could say, it’s my thing now. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’ve been shuffling them every day, and multiple times a day on Sundays, so they have had a lot of use at this point. They are holding up quite well. I’ve taken good care of them. They stay on my desk in one spot when I’m not using them and my daughter only gets to look at them with me.

The cards that I started my deck with, so the first 4 or 5 that have been in there the longest, are starting to show their wear. They still have much life left in them, but you can see the edges of the paper is separating in a few places due to hitting other cards while shuffling. It’s sad to see them start to wear down, but as we know, nothing is permanent.

I also think that this is perhaps a sign that some of the messages don’t align anymore. These cards that are beginning to wear out, are cards that haven’t shown up in readings in a long time. It’s how I first got started, and as such, the messages I don’t think resonate as well anymore and they weren’t that strong, to begin with. We all have to begin tapping into our intuition somewhere. That is where I began and it’s a sign of my own personal growth.

So when you’re thinking about creating your deck, it’s important to know why you’re creating it when you start. Is it a personal development tool that you will one day outgrow and need to update or to simply show yourself your progress? Or is it a deck that you carefully plan out to use for your clients that will be shuffled multiple times a day, everyday?

When you have your answer, you’ll know how to get started. If it’s just for yourself and your own personal growth, then use a blank deck as I use. Use paper the size of the card you want, and don’t worry if a card starts to show it’s wear. If you’re a professional reader and want to create a deck that is well planned out based on what you know you’re clients need, then make your art larger and have it professionally printed as a deck. This is what I am going to be working on next!
